Workshop Program Abstract:
I developed Creative Rounds to help support healthcare workers through poetry, narrative medicine, and visual arts. Rooted in the belief that healing is deeply human work, this workshop programĀ seeks to foster connection, reflection, and compassion within healthcare communities. In a time marked by burnout, loneliness, and increasing disconnection, Creative Rounds offers healthcare professionals a space to reconnect with themselves, their colleagues, and the people they serve.
The program was developed in response to the emotional demands placed on modern healthcare workers and the growing recognition that technical expertise alone cannot sustain meaningful care. Research in the medical humanities continues to show that engagement with literature and the arts can reduce stress, strengthen empathy, and improve interpersonal connection. Creative Rounds builds on this understanding by creating accessible, community-centered workshops that encourage participants to process experiences creatively and collaboratively.
Each workshop session is designed as a standalone course, allowing attendees to come and go as schedules allow. Workshops focusĀ on discussion, reflection, and creative practice. In Creative Rounds, participants engage with poems, stories, visual art, and guided prompts that encourage self-expression and open dialogue. The workshops emphasize flexibility, accessibility, and inclusive learning, with activities intended to support a wide range of creative comfort levels and personal experiences. While the initial focus is on healthcare professionals, the long-term vision includes expanding the program to patients, families, and broader community partnerships.
